As an artist I always wanted to paint. But there are places, where painting is too troubled. There must be some kind of atonement, and an absolution and improvement.

It has to overcome the frame and the landscape and the figure and the thought and the right and wrong.

In the curiosity of the inner and outer worlds, it has been crucial for me to work with other artists in projects, where painting has been putted to the edge, or has been in conversation with other art forms.

When I startet at Myndlista- og Handíðaskóla Íslands 1989, I was introduced to the abstract expressionism in America. We went for a schooltrip to New York in 1992 and I saw those paintings for the first time in real. It had such an impact on me, that I am still into the abstract painting today.

It became the way out of the faroese landscape painting, that was the main subject in faroese painting at that time, and had been so, since the beginning of faroese art history.

From there, I went to Helsinki to study at the Finish Academy of Fine Arts, after graduating from Iceland 1993. There I was presented to even more abstract painting, now in the nordic cool organic way. It intensified my paintings in the colours and form. With my tutor, who was teaching at the Time and Space department, I became interested in the surroundings and enviroments where art is beeing showed and how it is showed, and when can painting not be an object.
